Speed dating became popular in the very late 90s in the United States. The first speed-dating event took place at Pete’s Café in Beverly Hills in 1998, but its origins are credited to Rabbi Yaacov Deyo of Aish HaTorah, as a way to help Jewish singles meet and marry.
Speed Dating was also popularized in the recent film, SPEED DATING, which was directed by Tony Herbert and starred Hugh O’conor and also the popular television program sex in the city.
